Helen is another of that long line of servants, missionaries, of whom the world is not worthy. A remarkable woman telling the story of a remarkable God and his faithfulness to his children. may God give us many more like Helen. May God make us all to emulate Helen in whatever sphere he gives us.
Thank you so much for giving me the opportunity to learn about this remarkable woman. I will remember her example of digging ditches every time I read II Kings now.

Some paraphrases:
“And from that point one, I had but one desire–to tell people about Jesus.”
“I was just going to be a missionary. That’s all I wanted to do.”
Amen. Amen. Amen. Praise be to our Savior who gives us all we could ever want or need–Himself.
“…the things in me that stop them from listening to the gospel.” Did you hear that line? I was struck with the realization that there are things in MY life as a teacher, and things we do at our at our school that might indeed be a similar impediment to those we are given to work with.
What a blessing this interview was!! Thank you so much for giving her this opportunity to continue her work for Jesus by encouraging others through sharing her testimony! Tremendous blessing and what an encouragement to all of us to keep fighting the good fight and to see serving Christ as a privilege! What a great way to describe it!
Blessings

It is such an encouragement to hear about missionaries who started with humble beginnings and had many struggles along the way. As Christians, we tend to think we aren’t strong enough, godly enough or devoted enough for God to use us. It is in the midst of our weaknesses that others are saved and God speaks through us.
Thank you to John Piper for posting this on his twitter!

Nice to see another Congo Missionary. My great Aunt Mary Baker was also there during the uprising and was martyred there in November 1964. You can also read Margaret Hayes’ books: A Reluctant Missionary and Missing Believed Killed….such inspiring stories. Also Out of the Jaws of the Lion. Through these stories God spurred my heart to be a missionary and I was able to serve in Russia for 10 years. Praise the Lord.
How wonderful but challenging to see and hear Helen still so enthusiastic for the Lord. I was a Candidate when she candidate when she came to Mission Headquarters (1949/50). Sandy (CLC)
An inspiring lady and one who “lived” it. In knowing her, I know her heart’s desire is to inspire us all to be in our generation what the Lord has for us and not just be encouraged by stories of the past. She was the inspiration for my family and I to begin our journey some 15 years ago. If anyone is interested in a tough assignment in a place of great need that will demand perseverance and sacrifice – I know one!
What a blessing to hear this interview! My mother was born in Congo, daugher of missionaries there. I currently serve in the USA in a very secular place, but am believing that after this job ends the Lord will provide other places of service, perhaps overseas. It’s so wonderful to hear Dr. Roseveare say with assurance that God can use us no matter what our age! I’m not anxious to retire–just to serve the Lord wherever He puts me! “Faithful is He Who calls you; He also will do it!” I Thess 5:24

Extremely challenging interview. Wonderful questions and answers glorifying to the greatness of the Lord Jesus Christ. More of the same style interviews with inspiring Christians please.
