New Building
4 March 2011
We had our first worship services in the new building on Sunday 27 February, and there was much excitement throughout the day. David said it well that, despite having a bright, shiny new building that will be used for so many good things in the church and community, we must not let it become an idol.
We are grateful to all those who have supported us in encouragement, prayer, and financial giving.
Here are a few photos of the new building:

The building construction, which commenced 12 July 2010, will be coming to completion tomorrow, Friday, 18 February 2011. The contract period of the construction was 32 weeks, and we are delighted with the work that has been done. Charlie and Ethan are moving back into their office space (Charlie is quite relieved to be out of the portacabin!), and the finishing touches are being made.
Services in the “new” building will begin next Sunday. 27 February, at 11am and 6pm. The official re-opening will be Sunday, 20 March, with the Rev Alisdair I. Macleod, St. Andrews, preaching.

Hi everyone
I am pleased to announce that we have now formally taken over the sports hall and flat from Wednesday morning. Ethan and family moved back yesterday evening. The hall has been repainted and we have new toilets in this part of the building. The rest of the building is out of bounds however until the renovations are completed. The contractors have done a great job and it was good that they delivered on the timetable set.
I was speaking to David today and he feels that we should move back into the hall for our prayer meeting. We will put some screens up (when we get them back from the school) to make it more homely. It was really good of Arthur Sinclair of St Mary in the Field’s to give us the use of their church for these 6 months, but from next Wednesday we will move into our hall. I will intimate this in Sundays bulletin.
Hope you all have a great Christmas if I don’t see you before then.

We have had a small delay of approximately 3 weeks caused by drainage problems encountered when first starting the building work off. The drainage to the retaining wall area to the back of the car park has now been completed. All internal walls in the existing church building have been removed. All slappings to the new hall have been completed. Internal steel work supports to the main church building are 80% complete. Work has now commenced this week on the foundation work to the new sanctuary situated in the back car park. Work has also started on taking down the concrete walls and stairs situated in the big hall/flat area. The new gas supply to the kiosk has been installed. The bricklayers are due in this week.
The contractors (Compass Building and Construction Services Ltd) are confident they will be able to pull back the delay and finish in time by mid February 2011.

We are quickly moving forward with the expansion of the church building. Work will begin on the 5th of July and continue until mid February 2011. All worship services will be moved to Smithton Primary School, and Wednesday prayer meetings will be held at St. Mary-in-the-Fields Episcopal Church, Culloden. All regular church programs and activities, as well as tea rotas, will be suspended until February. However, Youth Fellowship will continue at a time and location to be determined.
Weekly notices, announcements, and building updates will be available here on the website. For questions, contact Charlie.
